Organic Search

Unpaid search engine traffic — the visitors who find your site through Google, Bing, or other search engines.

What Is Organic Search?

Organic search refers to the unpaid, algorithm-driven results that appear in search engines when users enter queries. Unlike paid search (ads), organic results are earned through SEO — creating quality content, building authoritative backlinks, and optimizing your website for search engine crawlers.

Organic search is typically the largest traffic source for established websites and one of the most valuable because it's essentially free (once you've invested in SEO) and represents users actively searching for what you offer.

Domain name quality can influence organic search performance. Brandable, memorable domains tend to generate more direct and repeat traffic. Keyword-rich domains may have a slight edge for relevant queries, though this benefit has diminished since Google's EMD update.

Why This Matters for Startups

Organic search should be a cornerstone of your startup's growth strategy. It compounds over time — content you create today continues driving traffic for years. Start with keyword research to understand what your potential customers are searching for, create genuinely useful content that answers their questions, and build your domain's authority through quality backlinks. A strong domain name helps indirectly — it's more shareable, more linkable, and more memorable than a forgettable one.
